Sales of smart electronics modules in the world increased to $21 billion in a year

The global smart electronic module market continues to grow rapidly, reaching nearly $21 billion in 2024. More than 40% of this volume was formed by the Asia-Pacific region (APR), the main driver of the development of IoT, smart transport and consumer electronics technologies.

According to Fortune Business Insights (November 28, 2025), the global Smart Module market was $20.94 billion, with the Asia-Pacific accounting for 42.6% or $8.91 billion. Smart modules are integrated electronic components that combine memory, processor, and communication interface in a single package. Their key advantages are compactness, energy efficiency, and higher performance compared to a set of disparate components.

The main impetus for growth is provided by IoT ecosystems, smart homes, telematics automotive systems, and industrial automation. Smart modules are actively used in smartphones, wearable electronics, smart infrastructure, transport, and communications. In industry, they are becoming the basis for predictive maintenance and machine-to-machine data exchange.

Experts note that the growth of IoT devices directly stimulates demand. According to IoT Analytics, by the end of 2024, there were 18.5 billion IoT devices in the world (+12% per year), and by 2030 this figure may grow to 39 billion.

There are also constraining factors, such as the high cost of developing 5G/AI devices, the need for lengthy testing, and a shortage of highly qualified engineers. In 2024, 4G/5G modules became the largest segment ($8.47 billion), and consumer electronics is the leader in terms of applications (27.73%).

In 2025, the market is projected to grow to $22.39 billion, and the average annual growth rate will be 7.4%. If the dynamics continue, by 2032 the volume of the segment may exceed $36 billion.
